Let's pause our story for a moment to look at some useful phrases from what we just heard.

  • alt — old, Das Buch ist sehr alt.
  • sehr schön — very beautiful, Der Stuhl ist sehr schön.
  • Was kostet das? — What does that cost?, Was kostet die Tasse?
  • Ich schaue nur — I'm just looking, Danke, ich schaue nur.
  • Guten Tag — Good day/Hello, Guten Tag, wie geht es Ihnen?, Mit diesen Sätzen bist du gut vorbereitet!

'Neunzig Euro? Wie wäre es mit achtzig Euro?' Er überlegt wieder. 'In Ordnung, achtzig Euro.

— I am at the flea market in Berlin.
  • Überall sehe ich alte Bücher. — Everywhere I see old books.
  • Was kostet dieser Stuhl? — What does this chair cost?
  • Hundert Euro ist ein bisschen viel. — One hundred Euros is a bit much.
  • Können Sie den Preis vielleicht reduzieren? — Can you perhaps reduce the price?
  • Ich bin zufrieden! — I am satisfied!, Sehr gut gemacht!

Was wäre dein besonderes Fundstück? Was würdest du gerne kaufen?
