Let's pause our story for a moment and look at some of the key words and phrases we just heard. These are great for describing a market experience:

  • scegliere — to choose, Devo scegliere cosa mangiare.

— I like going to the local market.
  • Sento un buon profumo nell'aria. — I smell a good scent in the air.
  • Ci sono tante bancarelle colorate. — There are many colorful stalls.
  • Prendo un pezzo di pizza margherita. — I'll take a slice of Margherita pizza.
  • Quanto costa, per favore? — How much does it cost, please?
  • Il cibo è caldo e saporito. — The food is hot and tasty., Fantastico!
