'Bom dia! Posso ajudar?', ela pergunta. Eu mostro a calça. 'Bom dia!

Let's pause our story for a moment and look at some useful words and phrases from that scene.

  • calça — pants, Eu comprei uma calça nova.
  • longa — long, A calça ficou muito longa.
  • bainha — hem, Preciso fazer a bainha da calça.
  • costureira — seamstress, A costureira é muito simpática.
  • apertar — to tighten, Dá para apertar a cintura?

A costureira me entrega a calça. Ela me olha no espelho. 'Está bom assim?', ela pergunta, apontando para as marcas. Eu confirmo que sim, está perfeito. 'Quando estará pronto?', eu pergunto. Ela anota em um papel. 'Fica pronto na quarta-feira. Quer provar quando vier buscar?'. Eu agradeço. Ela me informa o preço e a data de entrega.

— I need to take my pants to get the hem done.
