¡Ay, no! ¿Has comprado algo y no funciona?

No funcionaba. No pude hacer mi café. Pensé: 'No puede ser'. Miré el recibo de compra. Necesito ir a la tienda otra vez. Esto no es normal. Tengo que hablar con alguien. ¿Qué van a decir?

Let’s take a moment to look at some key vocabulary from that part of the story.

  • la tienda — the shop/store, Fui a la tienda.
  • comprar — to buy, Necesito comprar una cafetera.
  • rota — broken, La cafetera está rota.
  • el problema — the problem, ¡Qué problema!
  • volver a — to return to, Volví a casa., ¡Excelente!

No funciona'. Le mostré la cafetera y el recibo. Ella miró la cafetera. Era evidente que estaba dañada. Me dijo: '¡Qué lástima!

— I bought a new coffee maker.
  • La cafetera estaba rota. — The coffee maker was broken.
  • ¡Qué problema! No funcionaba. — What a problem! It didn't work.
  • Miré el recibo de compra. — I looked at the purchase receipt.
  • Me preguntó: '¿En qué puedo ayudarle?' — She asked me: 'How can I help you?'
  • Me ofreció cambiarla o devolver el dinero. — She offered to exchange it or return the money., ¡Fabuloso!
